Another incident of friendly fire killing and wounding Canadians, What's going on here.?

This is the second time in 4 years that an american fighter jet has fired on Canadian troops, I have been watching this on canadian news stations but on american news stations not a word has been mentioned of this incident yesterday. I'd like to know how this can happen again? And why is it not broadcast on the news in The States.

I think there must be a lot of confusion, to say the least, in combat situations. The adrenaline is pumping. Even people following strict orders and rehearsed scenarios can make errors when under pressure.

I guess it isn't news in the states because larger numbers of their own are dying. A few Canadians don't make the front page, ever. Sad but true.

I really feel for the people involved. Let's hope this war is over soon.

This happens mainly due to the ineptness of the U.S. military. As far as they and the U.S. media is concerned, only American soldiers and Israeli soldiers are worth reporting. If you take the time to read the report from the first "friendly" fire , the U.S. knew where the Canadian soldiers were, they were ordered not to fire but did anyway. The whitewash investigation of this latest incident will probably show the same. And please don't expect news about U.S. errors, on U.S. stations. It is getting too close to mid-term elections so you'll be hard pressed to find any negative news stories until after November.

Every country is guilty of this, not just American TV stations. In some areas, there is no mention of anything that happens, except when it happens to them. Dirty little secrets. I don't trust anything anymore - what truths are said or not said. I think it has to do with protection...if everybody knew what was really going on....I don't think we would be in any wars, I think kings and queens, politicians all hide the truth. If we all sat back...and watched...those people in power you nor I would be fighting....the little 14 year old with the gun in hand would have a book or something better....FOOD. If we just lived by the basic 10 commandments - don't think there would be a problem ANYWHERE. But.......there is always someone out there that wants to be the leader of the world.

In Afghanistan??? Canadian troops did not go to Iraq. What is wierd about warfare today is that a jet may fire on a target a mile or more away. So it is not like the pilot may have seen them, saw they were Canadian, and fired anyway. The friendly fire stuff is sad. Sorry to hear about it.

I still cant belive that this has happened again. yet another reason to stop this POINTLESS war. As for American news not reporting it, is it really that suprising? They cant afford to give that kinda news, so many people are already questioning the war and this would just make it worse. Christ, they will probably try to blame it on the Canadians....saying they were doing something wrong......pathetic! Its not our fault that the Stupid American pilots cant think enough to realize that "Hey wait a min, those arent Enemies!" Shoot now ask questions later, damn Americans........Your not the Worlds Police Force you know!

This is the severe component of war ...we forget as we bicker back and forth , that the ones that die from "friendly ordinance" were there to do thier duty , and stay alive . You cant pass judgement on situational awareness , unless you have been through it . I believe that the soldiers that are fighting in Afghanistan are in the most dangerous place next to Iraq , I would re-enlist , but I have a "million dollar wound " . My buddies in the 10th mountain div. are there now , I would be too. I would wish it to be myself to serve again , instead of someone that has family here or in Canada . Fathers , uncles, brothers , aunts , sisters , mothers and other devoted , are there to commit thier mission . You find out after "making contact with the people" , that your job becomes staying alive . I weep for these brave folks . I question your motivation in this question ; it seems that if you have had experienced "suspicious awarenes" from combat , you wouldnt even dare ask.

Unfortunately these things happen in war. It is a tragedy that such mistakes are made, but they will happen. There were THOUSANDS of such casualties in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. Today with the media is such that we hear about each and every incident that occurs, which makes it seem like it is more today than it was in the past. It is much less with today's technology, but it will happen again at some point.

There is no such a thing as friendly fire ! my goodness, this is a war! And no matter what kind of fire it is, that fire is aimed to kill and destroy!... There is confusion and of course The U.S.of A. does not broadcast their mistakes.

Such events of killing their own men are unfortunate. I still feel that these events are not unavoidable. We should not forget those innocent people including women and children who are the victims of such errors.
