They're asking for a fee in order for you to join? That sounds a bit like a scam to me. Mystery shopping isn't a steady job, so you may pay $20, but only get maybe 4-5 jobs throughout the year & earn only $15-40. My personal experience with a mystery shopping job was that I didn't have to pay anything, but I didn't get hired that often (since I lived in a small town). I didn't really have to pay taxes, but then I'd only earned about $10. I did have to pay if I went to a location that I had to pay to be there (like a restaraunt or a shop), but I got reimbursed for that amount as long as I kept the reciept & sent it in. I think that you need to pass over this company. You shouldn't have to pay--THEY should be paying YOU. What if they say "gee, sorry, but there's no jobs in your area" or if there's no jobs that you can take? Then you're out $20. EDIT: Only pay if you are looking to find a site that is going to list various secret shopper sites. Even then, don't pay too much for it. Also, don't buy into the "earn up to $5,000 a month" stuff. The likelihood of that occuring immediately is very slim. Usually the only people who earn that much are the professional ones that have been around for a long time & know how to work the system. Odds are that you will not earn that much at first, and not enough to pay your bills & stuff. Just be careful about it. Secret shopping can be very fun (I had a blast doing mine), but there are lots of unscrupulous people out there.

$200 for a convenience store visit??? Too good to be true. I've been working in the performance evaluation/mystery shopper filed since last October, and I've never seen an assignment like the one above to pay this much. While there are assignments that do pay between $150-$200, they usually involve a bit more effort than a simple interaction with a store clerk.

Plus I have never had to pay any upfront fees to a company. The only investment I ever had to make was $5 for a researched list of the highest paying companies, back when I decided to do this type of work. While it is generally not necessary to purchase any list of companies to get assignments, if you get one from a good source, you will bypass the need to work with the cheapest companies in this field(majority of those are not well-paying ones, unfortunately), and get high paying assignments.

Keep in mind, that this job requires a level of determination and ability to organize and manage time in order to make money.

I work only on weekends, because I hold a full time job elsewhere, but during these weekends I'm able to generate $300-$400 weekly on an average.

I'd be wary of any "premier" company that uses a gmail address.
